🍾 Ford Focus Mk2 Alternator Problems

Ford dealer failed to identify a fault a few months ago (when in warranty) and now wants to charge me to fix an as yet undiagnosed problem - open cheque. The dealer is saying their diagnostics now suggest the alternator is overcharging but the battery isn't "cooked", no bulbs have gone and an independent garage tested it at 16V which sounds OK After discovering the alternator was no longer supplying enough power to the charge battery, etc. ,on my Focus CC , I looked online and found a replacement. Halfords UK had one , so I called them and after asking several times if it was compatible , was assured yes , paid for it and arrived a day late. since rebuilding my engine due to cambelt snap my alternator light is now on full time (use to come on 2-3 times aday and restart would cure it till it was next restarted) Iv replaced a decent chunk of alternator wiring and new plug. Also cleaned up the earths im not a total loss atm. Thanks for the idea the battery is good until a minute or 2 later dash lights come on and it stalls. It has lower voltage running than not.11v at the alternator and battery when on but 12v when off and it drains fast.Battery test good until placed in car and running for 3 minutes then needs a charge to retest have also tried another battery with the same results.It misses as well before it stalls. .
