Posted December 9, 2012. The connector is secured by a screw (bolt) with a head that shears off when fitted. To remove the headless bolt it has to be drilled out. The official way is to insert a sleeve into the connector hole with a smaller diameter hole in the centre to guide a drill bit. Maybe you could improvise with a bunch of washers.

It could be a wiring problem in the bus between the diagnostic connector and the ECU. It could be the ECU has gone off into a sulk for some odd reason. Have you tried the old trick of powering it down (disconnect battery) for a while, and re-connecting. The worst scenario is a problem with the ECU or its connectors & wiring.
The fault is almost cleared from the ECU when disconnected and the engine light is often not displayed. if the battery is left connected it will display this fault and start in limp mode so the battery needs to be disconnected overnight to erase the fault in the ECU.

Posted November 12, 2021. I can't remember what it connects to but it was an absolute *swear word* to fit on my MK7, had to remove the passenger headlight! I think the MK7 loom is slightly different though, I'm sure the MK6 splits and you can remove injectors & glow plugs seperately. 1. fiesta 1.4 tdci durqtorq.
I really do wonder if its ECU faults. If you read Honest John Focus Review - good and bad section - you will also see issues with later versions of non eloys dpf on 2007-2011 Focus. There are even issues with the post 2011 Focus too, see also Honest John, but Ford have developed software patches for the ecu for that later model.
